S.Y. KATHARSIS II.
Polish owned and crewed yacht. OYSTER 72.
Katharsis II sailed from Hobart, Australia to Ross Sea in Antarctica in January 2015 and then back to Auckland, New Zealand. It was the year of the biggest ice cap in Antarctica. We sailed down to Bay of Whales reaching on February 6th a position of 78º43’.566S 163º43’.806W which was further south then ever recorded. Katharsis II had 2300 liters of extra fuel in 7 Super deck tanks installed on and below deck. They all survived harsh Southern Ocean conditions and below zero temperatures in Ross Sea area.
Kind regards, Mariusz.

SCORPIUS VOYAGE
Mission:
“National interests from the pole to the pole!”“The circumnavigation around the South and the North poles on board the yacht “Scorpius” is the first joint Russian-Ukrainian polar sailing expedition. This is not only sport, scientific and educational project, but patriotic too. Its mission is to remind that for centuries two great nations have been creating and living the same glorious history, in one mighty commonwealth, sharing joys and sorrows, performing common feats. To remind that we are two great Slavic nation-states; that we’re devoted to our traditions but looking forward to future. That the spirit of the Age of Discovery and ocean and land conquerors is alive.” See details on: http://www.nizovtsev.net/eng/ Mission impossible was completed ! Under the leader ship of owner Captain Sergei Nizovtsev.SCORPIOUS had 8 x SUPER DECK 1000 in use at various parts of voyage including an 2800 NM motoring from Southern Ocean to Hobart with sails in tatters.
