Eggs not broken ! Neither will sensitive electronics – medical equipment – optics – explosives etc.
Light aircraft can air drop sensitive – fragile supplies. Humanitarian aid – disaster aid – combat resupply troops without helicopters or airfield.
Deployment possible in very short time – without special training or preparation. Other then drop crew wear short harness.
FAST – MOST ACCURATE FOR SMALL DROP ZONES – COST EFFECTIVE – UTILIZE THE AIRCRAFT OF OPPORTUNITY as Cessna 206 – Cessna 208 – DHC-2 Beaver– DHC-6 Twin Otter – P-750 – CASA 212 – Short 330 etc.
Also can be deployed from faster transport aircraft as C130 Hercules – C-17 – AN-32 etc.
NO PARACHUTE drop success depends, on pilots skill and willingness to fly at 80 knots or slower – almost do a touch and go but wheels not touch ground. Must avoid rocky ground – forest.
Cannister can get damaged if not stay within operational limitations.
Expected number of times reuse:
1.) Air dropped with parachute: : Over 100 x cycles as long avoid – sharp rock and tree canopies or similar highly destructive ground.
2.) Air dropped with no parachute: As long stay within limitations of almost touch ground – 80 knots 148 km speed. – avoid – sharp rocks and trees or similar highly destructive ground. 20 x cycles. BUT if ground is soft as sand over 100 x cycles. If pilot can fly slower the re-usable cycle will increase.
Helicopters and slow bush aircrafts are most effective
