TURTLE BUDDY

Little-Buddy 40Lt (10.5 Gall.)

  • Mal Beard the former Australian Aerobatic Champion shows how easy it is to fill the Turtle-Buddy by one person even by a manual pump! Full with 40 lt 10.5 gal. Filled with Avgas the total weight is 33.3 kg 73 lbs, light enough to lift the tank onto the seat.

  • For maximum safety the tank should be filled outside the plane and the filler grounded.

Packs up compact and the pack is soft enough to fold further to fit anywhere. Can be taken as baggage on commercial flights.

  • Developed especially for Light Sport Aircraft registered with FAA, and Experimental Category (CASR Part 21.191) aircraft.

    Minimum weight – Maximum components

    Maximum reliability – Maximum practicality

Other categories of aircraft may also use these tanks under a Special Flight Permit for the purpose of ferry flight, if the tank is installed to an approved scheme.

Turtle-Buddy is equally suited to tandem seat aircraft such as the Piper

Cub or Van’s RV-8 etc. Tandem seat aircraft often have wider seats than side-by-side two place aircraft.

  • The 4 x webbing ties around the seat secure Turtle-Buddy on the seat. The seat belt is also buckled over the tank for maximum safety. The 12 volt pump kit is secured to seat frame by mounting brackets provided. Electric switch secured by double sided tape to panel within reach of cigarette lighter socket for power source. The outlet is plumbed to the existing fuel tank. Get professional advice for the best method to suit your aircraft and to meet the Airworthiness requirements. The Cessna 152 Aerobat will have to conform to different rules than a LSA or Experimental Category aircraft .

Big-Buddy 68Lt (18 Gall.)

Seaplane Float Tanks

Turtle Buddy In Baggage Area

  • FLOAT TANKS KEEP CG AT OPTIMUM
    Is CG within limits?

  • This plane is certified to carry 120 lbs maximum in the luggage compartment. Therefore a full Turtle-Buddy can be carried with a passenger.

Most two place aircraft can fit a Little-Buddy and keep weight & balance within limits.

  • Alternative storage of Turtle-Buddy is in the luggage compartment if your plane has one. The second seat is then freed up for a passenger. The webbing ties must be secured to strong points in the compartment.

Collapsible Jerry Can 20Lt (5.3Gall.)

TURTLE-PAC IS TRUSTED BECAUSE…

Turtle-Pac pioneered in the mid 1980s, the unique skill and technology used today. We haven’t stopped pioneering since, an ongoing R&D program ensures our leading edge is maintained. Every aspect of manufacture is geared towards exceptional reliability. New product samples are destruction tested and trialled in the field in the most arduous conditions before release into the market. The knowledge gained is applied throughout our production, to your benefit. Every aircraft tank is pressure tested, and seams are foam tested and inspected. Only after all tests and inspections are passed satisfactorily, is the Tank issued a Quality Assurance and Acceptance Certificate.

TURTLE-PAC’S FABRICS

STANDARD GRADE fabrics are soft fabrics, easy to fold, compact and lightweight. Suitable for Avgas, and chosen by some users for Kerosene (jet fuel) as well, due to it’s user-friendly characteristics up to 529 gallons. However, STANDARD GRADE is not recommended for kerosene.

EXTRA GRADE fabrics are heavy duty. Suitable for Avgas and Kerosene (jet fuel). Recommended to users of jet fuel and others operating in harsh envronments. Compared to Standard Grade: Not as soft and user friendly and will take up about 30% more space folded and about 30% heavier.

CONSTRUCTION

Electro Fuse Welding, using precision dies, electronically fuses all seams. The seam’s strength equals the fabric strength, and is maintenance free. No glue or chemical bonding is used, as those techniques are prone to leaks.

TANKS PRESSURE RESISTANCE

Standard Grade fabric tanks are tested to 5 psi during quality control tests. (Aluminium ferry tanks only tested to 3.5 psi). Standard Grade fabric Turtle-Pac Ferry Tanks will exceed the pressure resistance of aluminium ferry tanks typically by 300%.

CRASH RESISTANCE

Turtle-Pac tanks are a collapsible structure and do not require ventilation; no vapours are contained in the tank to cause an explosion during crash or fire. Being a soft structure, the tank can and will alter shape under high “G” loads, which increases its puncture and burst resistance. Furthermore, the tanks self-wedge into the fuselage, gripping by friction. This reduces the load on the tie points considerably. Turtle-Pac Ferry Tanks have been used since 1991 and during this period not a single tank has failed, even though some aircraft made forced landings (due to causes not related to our tank!).

This combination of factors adds up to a far safer tank than aluminium ferry tanks.

LIFE EXPECTANCY

Some of our tanks have been used successfully with Avgas for just over 10 years now. However, Kerosene use in Standard Grade fabric can reduce this period by some years.
